Modern Bank N.A. Expands into Midwest and Hires New Director, Matthew Deibel

March 23, 2022, NEW YORK – Modern Bank, N.A. announced Matthew Deibel has joined the Bank as a Director on the Commercial and Industrial Team. Matt will manage the newly created Chicago office for Modern Bank and will report to Curtis Lueker, Chief Lending Officer and Head of Commercial Markets.

Mr. Deibel has over 11 years of experience in middle-market leveraged finance supporting private equity firms’ acquisitions, refinances and recapitalizations. Before joining Modern Bank, Matt was the head of sponsor originations for First Merchant Bank’s upper-midwest region. Prior to that, he worked in the underwriting function at Antares Capital and GE Capital where he was responsible for analyzing and structuring first lien, second lien and unitranche debt investments.

“We are excited to have Matt join the Modern Bank team and look forward to building our presence in the Midwest region, noting Matt will be covering clients nationwide,” said Mr. Lueker.

Matt is a graduate of Boston College and proud native of Buffalo, NY. He is currently based in Chicago, IL.
